We want to make sure that you don’t have to be Facebook to share our content,” Mark Zuckerberg, the company’s CEO, told the BBC.
“If you can’t find an account on Facebook, it won’t get shared.”
The company’s new tool, which Facebook says can be used by anyone, allows users the option to create up to a dozen accounts with varying names and fake profiles that will be used to share their stories, and then share them with friends.
It was originally launched in late August and the Facebook team have since rolled out it to users across the world.
Users can now create up 10 different accounts to share stories and Facebook has said they are already seeing a huge amount of activity.
“People are sharing our stories and it’s a really exciting time,” said Andrew Pfeiffer, a Facebook writer.
“We can see that people are looking for more information, and they’re finding it in our community and in our friends.”
