One year after her story about a deaf woman’s harrowing struggle with a heart attack inspired a hit TV series, the story of her ordeal has been shared hundreds of thousands of times.
In a recent interview with the BBC, the woman, who was diagnosed with a rare form of heart failure, said her story had changed her life.
The woman, known only as Jane, said she had never been able to tell her own story before the show, The Siren Head.
“I just really believed that I was doing something very brave and important.
I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to talk about something that is very often taboo in the media and to talk to the public, about a life that was very difficult,” she said.
The Siren Head is the second of the series, which has received more than 60 million views on YouTube.
“It’s really a story about my own journey and the journey of my family,” she added.
“The journey of the family to this moment where I can finally tell it to my own audience, it’s just such a wonderful story.”

“The Siren head has been watched more than 300,000 times on YouTube since it was uploaded on October 18.
The series, titled Siren Head, is a four-part BBC drama series.
It follows the lives of four deaf women who discover a mysterious illness and are told to stay home for five years while they are treated.
The women meet a local psychic, and their stories, and a story of their own, begin to come to life.
Amber, the psychic, is determined to get the story out, and the show’s star, actress Emily Blunt, plays the lead character, an intelligent, hard-working woman.
The drama, which also features a fictionalised version of Jane, has been described as a groundbreaking series that has “re-invented the TV show”.”

Jane’s story has been seen more than 200,000 time on YouTubeThe Sirenhead has been picked up for the BBC by ITV and Sky, and will be screened on Monday on the BBC’s World at One.
The BBC has said it is “in the process of securing a deal for the series” to be broadcast on its platforms.
